In 3rd grade, at the beginning of the Melody unit, we learn about do, re, and mi. We learn the song "Oh Won't You Sit Down," and we listen for where the pattern "mi, re, do."

The next time the students come to music class, I teach them Chatter with the Angels (another Spiritual) and have the students do the same Orff parts and find "mi, re, do" also.
